Nascar Kart Racing for the Wii

April 17, 2009

nascar_kart_racing_coverRecently I picked up a copy of Nascar Kart Racing for the Wii.  I have not played all the way through it yet, but I wanted to give you some insight of what you may find in it that I thought was good and bad.

First the good.  The game plays very similar to Mario Kart.  So if you have ever experienced that game before, you will feel at home with this game.

You will notice that their are powerups both good and bad in the game, and you hit them by driving to them (they look like pit stop signs).

Each one can do something a little different to you or your opponents.

The action is fast paced and allows you to unlock things as you go along. You can even play any of the roads/dirt tracks/or racetracks in reverse too, extending your game play.

There is also a multi player mode for you and your friends to get together and play.

The Bad:  I am not happy that the characters sound like they are from outter space.  It would have been nice if they had found VOICE OVER actors to say the lines instead of having sounds that are not coherent to the english language.

Overall, this game receives an 8 out of 10 from me.  I would recommend that if you are a fan of any of the KART style games for Nintendo, pick this one up too.  You won’t be disappointed.

Hey there!

April 13, 2009

Hey there, I haven’t posted in a while, and you probably thought I gave up on this!  Well, heck no.  I’m still here and willing to keep this thing going.  I am now going to add another console to the mix.  The Nintendo Wii.

Now you will get reviews/news/websites/etc about Nintendo, and XBOX 360 related stuff.

I hope to get the PODCAST part of this project going sometime in early summer 2009.  Keep watching for updates.

I should have a Wii game review coming in the next couple days too, so stop back for that!

Until then, Happy Gaming!

maddenAccording to Team XBOX, the winner of this years Superbowl will be Pittsburgh based on a Madden 09 simulation.

I’m hoping they are right, although this should be a very close match-up, according to everything I have read on-line.

Microsoft Layoffs Effect A Lot Including Some In The Game Division

January 24, 2009

u360-logo As reported on Unscripted 360,  Chris Paladino and Nelson Rodriguez lost their job over at Microsoft’s Gaming Division.

This is sad news.  Both of these guys had a lot to offer the gaming community.  Unfortunately they fell victim to the ever failing economy in the U.S.A.

So far, others like Major Nelson, E, and Trixie have not been laid off (to the best of our knowledge).  Stay tuned to the blog for any other updates on this and other breaking news stories to come.

XBOX 360 Stuff wishes both of them the best of luck in upcoming times.  I hope you all get even more better things in gaming to come!

Community Gaming Nights on XBOX Live…

January 8, 2009

tmgI had the privilege of playing Rock Band 2 on one of the Community Gamer Nights with Mrs. LeftyBrown from the Married Gamers.

I had a blast.  These folks that are part of this community are very friendly and come highly recommended to play with online if you do not want any of the B.S. that normally goes on while playing on XBOX LIVE.

Chris and Kelly Brown run a website/podcast about gaming.  Check them out when you get a chance, and let them know that you heard about their site from SKirkham1967A.

Lego Star Wars – The Complete Saga

January 2, 2009

legosagaI received Lego Star Wars – The Complete Saga for Christmas along with a few other games (to be reviewed later on this blog).

My wife and I have been playing a lot of co-op in this game and are thoroughly enjoying it.

If you have played any of the Lego series of games, you will enjoy this one too.

The game features scenes from all 6 of the movies, and you will play it just like the movies.

One of the things to note is sometimes you will play from a 3D game to a TOP DOWN look, depending on the scene you are in.  The cut scenes can be very funny at times.  All the Lego games seem to incorporate a bit of humor in the cut scenes.

After a while you can unlock Indiana Jones as a playable character.  This was a pre-cursor to announce the 2008 release of Lego Indiana Jones.

I would highly recommend you learn all the things each character can do before you go into FREE PLAY mode.  That way you can quickly switch between characters to get to those places certain characters will just not reach.

This game came out in 2007.  You can probably find a good deal on used copies or even inexpensive new copies too.  Overall I would give this game a rating of 8 out of 10.
